Ricardo Carter, a dedicated and passionate individual, is the driving force behind Unbr8kable Mentorship, a non-profit organization that empowers and guides youth between the ages of 10 and 18 using the engaging game of billiards as a transformative tool. With a deep-rooted desire to make a positive impact on the lives of young people, Ricardo combines his love for mentoring with his expertise in billiards to provide a unique and impactful learning experience.
Born and raised in Temple Hills, Maryland, Ricardo's journey has been one of sportsmanship, academic exploration, and unwavering dedication to helping others. Throughout his formative years, he actively participated in various sports, including track and field, cross country, basketball, softball, and soccer, always embracing the spirit of competition and teamwork.
It was during Ricardo's young academic pursuits that he discovered the intriguing world of billiards. As someone who struggled to find relevance in traditional academic subjects, he found solace in two areas: science and physical education. The breakthrough came when he studied geometry in 6th grade, uncovering a newfound love for mathematics as he observed its practical applications through angles and tangent lines. This revelation opened his eyes to the power of experiential learning.
Ricardo's academic achievements are a testament to his drive and commitment to personal growth. He earned an associate's degree in business marketing from Prince George's Community College, followed by a bachelor's degree in business management from Bowie State University. Building upon his foundation, he pursued a master's degree in Global Management from Cambridge College, equipping himself with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate a complex and interconnected world.
Outside of his academic pursuits, Ricardo embarked on a successful career spanning over 15 years in the Federal Government as a Contract Specialist. During this time, he honed his negotiation skills, attention to detail, and ability to bring people together to achieve common goals.
In 2011, Ricardo's passion for billiards evolved into a competitive pursuit as he joined a pool league. With his talent, strategic thinking, and leadership abilities, he captained and coached teams to tremendous success in the local pool league. His teams achieved an impressive record of 26 championships, including four trips to Las Vegas for prestigious pool tournaments. Notably, Ricardo led a team that achieved an impressive second-place finish out of 64 teams in a competition against Canadian teams, showcasing his ability to excel on an international stage.
Today, Ricardo combines his wealth of experience in mentoring, education, and billiards to create Unbr8kable Mentorship. Through this organization, Ricardo empowers young individuals, leveraging the game of billiards to teach life skills such as focus, patience, critical thinking, and discipline.
